It’s official. Italy is in recession as its GDP tumbles into negative territory. Political turmoil, higher borrowing costs, a mighty US dollar and fiscal tensions are having the expected impact. Expect declining confidence in the populist Italian Government to continue to rear its ugly head. Shoes will drop, one by one as the global slowdown expands. Someone has to be first.
